A wildcard represents unknown information in the search criteria. Use a wildcard when you are unsure of spelling; if you can remember only part of a word, name or number; or if you cannot read an entire word or number. When searching for studies in Study Manager, you can use a question mark (?) to represent one character or an asterisk (*) to represent one or more characters.
You can include wildcards in any search criteria that requires text entry. These criteria include Patient ID, Patient Name, and Accession Number.
You can use a wildcard anywhere and as many times as necessary:
At the beginning—*SHA
In the middle—MO?HA
At the end—MOUS*
In any combination—?O?S?A
