By default, stations are listed in the Stations navigation pane using their computer name. (When at the computer, find this name by right-clicking on the My Computer icon and selecting Properties.) You may want to rename stations to address issues such as the following:
Two stations have the same name, which can happen if a machine has been ghosted, or if a remote station happens to have the same computer name as an on-site station.
A station's computer name has been changed at the computer. (The Stations section is not automatically updated with the new name.)
You can use the station identifier to distinguish which station is which, and use that to rename one of the stations.
To find a station's identifier
At the station, from the List or Configure area bar, click the Help menu. ![]()
Select About IMPAX.
Note the station identifier.
To close the About dialog, click OK.
To rename a station
From the Configure drawer menu
, select Stations.
In the navigation pane, select the station to rename.
In the details pane, expand the General bar and switch to the Description tab.
Note the Station Identifier information. This ID helps you identify which station is which when two (or more) stations have the same computer name.
Optionally, in the Station Description field, type information that helps identify the station.
In the navigation pane, right-click on the station to rename.
Select Rename Station.
Type the new name and press Enter.
The station you selected is renamed. The changes are saved automatically when you switch context.
To keep better track of station containers and containers, you can also rename them to be more descriptive.

To rename a station container or container
From the Configure drawer menu
, select Stations.
In the navigation pane, right-click on the station container or [container] to rename.
Select Rename Station Container or Rename Container.
Type the new name and press Enter.
The item you selected is renamed. The changes are saved automatically when you switch context.
