Creating a markup profile

Use the Markup Profile tool to create a graph on grayscale images. On CT images, the graph illustrates the Hounsfield Units of the image pixels intersected by a drawn line. You can use it to identify areas of high-intensity pixels on CT images for closer analysis. On images from other modalities, the graph depicts GY (for Gray, representing 100 Rad or radiation absorbed dose) units.

To create a markup profile

  1. From the Image area context or top toolbar, click Markup Profile. Markup Profile

Or, if using the context toolbar text menu (Ctrl + right-click), select MarkupMarkup Profile.

  2. Click the start point of the line to graph.

  3. Move the pointer toward the end point of the line.

As you move the pointer, a line is drawn and a graph is displayed.

  4. To set the graph, click the end point of the line.

A graph depicting the HU or GY appears.

CAUTION!

CAUTION!

With Markup Profile, pixel values are not stored with the markup. Instead, they are generated from the pixel data each time the markup is loaded. Changes to the image such as flip, rotation, or compression can change the profile markup values. Therefore, do not rely on the profile measurements alone in making a diagnosis.
