IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Administering IMPAX > Configuring image display > Configuring defaults for playing cines
IMPAX preloads exams before the cine starts playing. To improve performance, you may want to prevent preloading of exams with very large numbers of images. To do this, set the percentage of images to preload for all series in the study, if the number of images in the first series is more or less than a specified amount.
To preload images to be cined
If setting preferences for other users, impersonate the user or role.
Press F12 or, from the Image area top toolbar, click Customize. ![]()
In the Customize dialog, switch to the Cine Viewer tab.
Select the Modality and Body Part (if available) to apply the preloading settings to.
On the Cine Viewer tab, switch to the Advanced Cine Settings tab.
Type the number of Images in the first series that indicate the threshold at which the preload options are used.
For example, type 200.
The number of images applies to both the Preload Percent of Series when Less than and Preload Percent of Series when More than fields.
For Preload Percent of Series when Less than, type the percent of images in the study to preload when the image threshold is not reached.
For example, type 90 to load 90% of the study images when the first series contains fewer than 200 images.
For Preload Percent of Series when More than, type the percent of images in the whole study to preload when the image threshold is exceeded.
For example, type 20 to load 20% of the study images when the first series contains more than 200 images.
Click Apply.
Repeat steps 4–9 for other modalities and body parts.
To close the dialog, click OK.
