When an image is acquired, the modality populates the DICOM header of the image with specific information about the acquisition. Some modalities, however, do not capture this data correctly, if at all. After the images are acquired, the technologist can correct these values using the Edit DICOM Elements tool.
To edit DICOM elements about image acquisition
From the Image area context or top toolbar, click Edit
DICOM Elements.
Or, if using the context toolbar text menu (Ctrl + right-click), select Information > Edit DICOM Elements.
Click the image to edit.
Under DICOM Elements, change or add any of the following tags:
kVp (peak kilo voltage output of the x-ray generator)
mAs (exposure)
SOD (distance in mm from source to the table, support, or buck side that is closest to the patient, measured along the central ray of the x-ray beam)
Technician Code (name of the technologist)
Click Save.
The updated values are saved in the IMPAX database. If the images are later transmitted to another cluster, the database values for these edited elements are written into the transmitted DICOM headers.
