IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Administering IMPAX > Configuring printers and printing options > Defining default printing behavior
When a print request contains both color and grayscale images, the job can be split such that color images print on a color printer and grayscale images on a grayscale printer. This optimizes use of resources, but also separates the prints.
A user can always select whether to split a particular mixed print job. You define which option is selected by default: splitting the job or sending all images to the same printer.
To select the default handling of color and grayscale print jobs
From the Configure drawer menu
, select Preferences.
In the navigation pane, select a top-level role.
The default set for one top-level role applies to all top-level roles. The default preference cannot be set for individual users, nor for lower-level roles.
In the details pane, expand the Image Area bar.
Switch to the Printer Preferences tab.
On the Printer Preferences tab, switch to the Split Color and Grayscale tab.
Select either Send color and grayscale images to different printers or Send color and grayscale images to the same printer.
The changes are saved automatically when you switch context.
