Creating an IMPAX Reporting addendum for speech recognition workflows

Addenda are revisions or additions to validated reports. They allow radiologists to modify or append already validated report content. Radiologists can create addenda in typed mode, digital dictation, offline speech recognition, and online speech recognition. The addenda can then be validated, saved, submitted for transcription, or change the reviewer. Addenda can be created for reports created in IMPAX Reporting or reports created from QDoc.

The Addendum button is controlled by the IMPAX RIS LETTER.ADDENDUM and TEXTAREA.ADDENDUM_EXTENDED parameters. If this parameter is disabled for the login user, addenda cannot be created. Addenda formatting is defined by the IMPAX RIS LETTER.TEXT_ADDENDUM_STRING parameter, containing the user name, date, and time. The addendum location is determined by options set in the Configure area and by the IMPAX RIS LETTER.ADDENDUM_INSERT parameter.

If the IMPAX RIS TEXTAREA.ADDENDUM_EXTENDED parameter is set to 0, the basic addendum workflow (from IMPAX 6.4 SU1) is available. The options available for creating an addendum are limited to inline reporting: online speech recognition and a typed workflow. The addendum must be validated immediately. The extended addendum workflow features such as saving, submitting for transcription/correction or setting a reviewer are not available.

To create an IMPAX Reporting addendum for speech recognition workflows

  1. Open a study with a validated report.

  2. In the Report panel of the Text area, click New addendum.

    Notice that a new tab called Addendum appears next to the Report tab.

  3. In the Reporting options dialog, set the reporting options for the addendum.

  4. Dictate or type the addendum.

    During addendum creation, the original report content is locked.

  5. To add predefined text to the addendum, use the standard text available in the Standard Text catalog. You can access the text by:

    • Voice commands defined for each standards text

    • Keyboards shortcut, if defined for the standard text

    • Double-clicking on the required standard text

  6. To set how the addendum should be processed, when finished dictation, click EOL. EOL

    The addendum content is inserted at a predefined location in the initial report and the Addendum tab disappears.

You can create multiple addenda for the same report. The IMPAX study status remains as Approved during, and after, addendum creation.
