Configuring web-based searches in the Text area (SmartSeek)

Radiologists and clinicians often need to search the Internet for details regarding a particular study. For example, the radiologist might search the Internet on a new procedure protocol to help with his diagnosis for a study. This may involve searching based on a differential diagnosis or procedure protocols. Certain institutions also have their teaching file system, or other web-based information systems, such as a RIS or LIS that users want to integrate with IMPAX using a URL that can be constructed with study data.

You can configure web-based searches based on study criteria in the Text area using functionality called SmartSeek.

Note:

Note:

Any user with access to the Text area can perform web-based searches.

To configure a web-based search in the Text area (SmartSeek)

  1. Open a study in the Text area.

  2. In the Text area, if the Study panel is contracted, click the Study bar to expand it.

  3. Click New.

If initially configuring a web-based search, the tab is labeled "title". After configuring a search, the tab is labeled with the text you define in step 6.

  4. Click Configure.

  5. To enable web-based search, select the Enabled checkbox

  6. In the Name field, type the name you want displayed in the tab of the Study panel.

  7. If required, assign a hotkey from the Hotkey list.

When in the Text area, pressing the hotkey, switches to the Web tab in the Study panel.

  8. To maximize the Web tab in the Text area, select the Hotkey maximizes web tab checkbox.

    • Navigate on study change—updates the content of the search tab when a study change occurs.

    • Navigate on tab selection—updates the content of the search when you click on the tab. When you change the patient or study, the tab is blanked out. Clicking the tab refreshes the content to the patient or study currently in view.

    • Navigate on application start—updates the content of the search tab when IMPAX starts. To change the content, you must reconfigure the search.

    • Navigate on patient change—updates the content of the search tab when a patient change occurs.

  12. From the Default search engine list, select the search engine you want to search, for example Google.

If you select custom from the list, you must type a URL in the Custom URL textbox. Use the example below the textbox for how to format the URL.

  13. From the Attribute name list, select one or more attributes to search on.

  14. In the Ignore words textbox, type any words, separated by commas, you want ignored in the search.

  15. Click Save.
