IMPAX 6.5.1 Server Knowledge Base home > Web compressing images using Curator > Web Compression Manager
Use the Web Compression Manager to set the lossy compression ratios for the different compression types when creating wavelet images. Only create one entry per modality. When enabled, the compression ratios entered are not exactly achieved, but should be in the range of +/- 20% of the entered value.
To define lossy wavelet compression ratios for modalities
On the Setup tab, click Web Compression
Manager.![]()
From the Modality list, select the modality to configure.
If the necessary modality is not listed, you can add it.
Type or select or type the appropriate lossy compression ratios for 8 Bit, 16 Bit, and Color images for the selected modality.
For example, to achieve a compression ratio of 10:1 for color images, type or select 10 in the Color field.
![]() | CAUTION! We do not recommend setting compression ratios greater than 20:1 for black and white images or greater than 30:1 for color images. Using larger ratios may result in poor quality images and may significantly reduce Curator performance. |
To enable lossy wavelet compression when storing images to the web cache, under Store Lossy, select the enabled checkbox.
If you do not enable Store Lossy, wavelet images are stored in lossless format.
Click Save.![]()
