Configuring the Agfa TS5 Transmit Station

The TS5 is a modality that sends studies to the Network Gateway. Use the DICOM configuration forms to make the association for the TS5 Transmit Station with the Network Gateway.

If you configure a DICOM association between the TS5 and the Network Gateway, you must update the C:\windows\hosts file on the TS5 with the network information for the Network Gateway. After establishing a TCP/IP connection to IMPAX, perform the DICOM configuration in the TS5 Network Management form.

To complete the DICOM configuration

  1. Click the TS5 Network Management icon.

This displays a series of forms where you make DICOM network entries. The Network Management tab is the default startup form.

  2. Click Create a new station at the top of the form.

  3. Enter the AE Title of the Network Gateway.

  4. Enter the host name and alias name of the Network Gateway.

  5. Leave the default values for the DICOM port number, Ethernet transport packet size, Read timeout, and Connect timeout unless you encounter problems transmitting studies to IMPAX.

The DICOM port number is automatically set to 104 and the Ethernet transport packet size is set to 100000. The Read timeout is set to 300 seconds and the Connect timeout is set to 15 seconds.

  6. Select the Capabilities checkboxes to set the Network Gateway for Transmit and Query/Retrieve.

  7. Click Save station to save the new information.

  8. Make appropriate simplification and compression settings in the remaining Network Management forms. Refer to the TS5 Installation manual for details.

To test the selected station

  1. Check all your entries.

  2. Configure the Network Gateway so that it can make a DICOM association with the Transmit Station.

To configure the Network Gateway

  1. Make an entry for the TS5 in the /etc/hosts file on the Network Gateway.

  2. In the DICOM Network form under Config, make the DICOM association for the TS5 and set it as a queryable DICOM host. Do not set the TS5 as a destination as you do not transmit studies to it.

  3. Perform a DICOM ping of the TS5 to make sure that you have made the correct entries.

  4. On the IMPAX side, enter the station name for the TS5 in the Network Manager (of the Administration Tools). This is essential for enabling HIS verification, routing, demographic layouts, and print functionality from IMPAX. The TS5 uses its Computer Name (Windows NT Control Panel/Network tab) as its station name. You can alternately transmit a study to IMPAX and view the station name using the Study Information icon.
