Configuring how often IMPAX attempts to retry failed transmit jobs

If a remote system is busy or unavailable when IMPAX attempts to connect to it, IMPAX can be configured to queue the transmit job for a configurable amount of time (by default, 5 minutes or 300 seconds) before IMPAX automatically retries the connection. If the connection fails three times, the job is set to error and an MCF exception is sent.

You can define how long IMPAX waits before retrying the connection, and how many times it retries. You can also configure IMPAX to not attempt to reconnect if the first attempt failed.

To configure how often IMPAX attempts to retry failed transmit jobs

  1. On the Setup tab, click Network Management.Network Management

  2. Switch to the Configuration tab.

  3. From the list at the bottom of the tab, select the station to configure.

  4. From the Retries list, select Automatic, Manual, or None.

    • None—Attempt the connection once and remove the SEND job from the queue if it fails. No MCF exception is sent for failed jobs, but the failure is noted in the log file.

    • Manual—Attempt the connection once and set the job to error if it fails. An MCF exception is sent for failed jobs and the job must be manually retried.

    • Automatic—Automatically retry the connection, up to the configured number of times. An MCF exception is sent if the job fails after these retries and the job must be manually retried. This setting is useful for dial-up connections where the remote modem may be busy on the first attempt.

  5. If you selected Automatic:

    1. In the Interval field, type the amount of time in seconds to wait before retrying the connection.

    2. In the Maximum field, type the number of times to retry the job.

  6. Click Save.Save
