IMPAX does not accept duplicate images for a study; however, you can configure how IMPAX communicates the rejection of duplicate images to the sending modality. You can have IMPAX send a status message that alerts the modality technician of a problem. Otherwise, the image is rejected silently, with no message to the modality.
In both cases, however, an error is logged in the log file associated with the SCP and an EXCEPTION_SUBMIT_IMAGE_FAIL exception is generated.

To configure how IMPAX rejects duplicate SOP Instance UIDs for the same study
On the Setup tab, click Network Management.
Switch to the Capabilities tab.
From the list at the bottom of the tab, select the station to configure.
To send an error message that alerts the technician, select the Send Non-Zero DICOM Status for Duplicate Image checkbox.
Click Save.
