Troubleshooting: Cannot log into the Administration Tools

Issue

I cannot log into the Administration Tools. No error message appears and I am left at the login screen. The log file contains an exception similar to the following:

java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission setFactory)

at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)

Details

The Administration Tools perform authentication via a web service. When you first launch the Administration Tools, if the security certificate is refused, the java server cannot run with sufficient permissions to create a network connection to the login service.

Solution

To log in successfully, you must accept the security certificate.

To relaunch the Administration Tools

  1. Close the Administration Tools and the browser window.

  2. Launch the Administration Tools in a new browser window.

  3. When prompted to accept the security certificate, click Grant always.
