Troubleshooting: Oracle on Windows does not start up automatically after a reboot

Issue

Oracle on Windows does not start up automatically after a reboot.

Details

Oracle must be started after a reboot or the IMPAX processes cannot function correctly.

Solution

Perform the following diagnostics:

  1. Open the Windows Administrative Tools.

  2. Select Services.

  3. Verify that OracleServiceMVF and OracleohomeTNSListener services are set to automatic startup.

  4. Verify the services are running.

  5. If the services are set to Automatic startup and are started after a reboot, check the following registry entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_ohome\ORA_MVF_AUTOSTART

  6. Ensure the value is set to TRUE.

CAUTION!

CAUTION!

Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system and there is no guarantee that these problems can be solved. We recommend that you back up the registry before you change it, so that you can back out the changes if necessary.
