Synchronizing Study Instance UIDs between clusters

The Study Instance UID (SUID) is used to uniquely identify a study within an enterprise. In a typical IMPAX implementation, a Connectivity Manager generates the SUID which is subsequently used by other components of the cluster; there can be one or more Connectivity Managers, and each Connectivity Manager can service one or more RIS systems. The SUID is synchronized across the enterprise.

However, in a multiple cluster configuration with a third-party PACS, HIS stations (typically Connectivity Managers) must be configured to receive Study Observed Notifications. Once this is done, IMPAX can notify Connectivity Managers in a multiple cluster configuration, preserving and synchronizing Study Instance UIDs from a third-party PACS.

Note:

Note:

A Connectivity Manager may be part of a multiple cluster configuration but have no contact with the third-party PACS; in which case, it would not need to be notified. It is also possible to not notify the station used to verify the HIS data against by not selecting it to receive Study Observed Notifications; for example, in a non cross-enterprise configuration.
