IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Administering IMPAX > Managing licenses
Licenses are assigned to roles, and each role inherits licenses from its parent roles. So a user can access all licenses available to the primary and secondary roles that user is a member of. By looking at the available and used licenses for your system, you can judge whether you need to purchase more licenses, or reassign licenses based on usage patterns and scheduling. For example, you may have six radiologists that need access to 3D tools, but only three of them will likely be reading at one time.
To view available and used licenses
From the Configure drawer menu
, select Users and Roles.
In the navigation pane, select a role.
In the details pane, expand the Licensing bar.
A table is displayed that lists all of the licenses available to the role, as well as indicating what the default license is. The columns in the licensing table list the following information:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| — | Lists whether the license is the default license, and which role the license is inherited from, if applicable. |
| Licenses Purchased | Lists the total number of licenses of this type that are installed on the Application Server. |
| Users with this default | Lists the total number of users who have this license as a default license. |
| Ratio | Lists the ratio of users with the license as a default to the total licenses. For example, if 10 users have the license as default, and there are 5 total licenses, the ratio is 1:2. |
| Users who can access | Lists the total number of uses who can access the license. |
| Ratio | Lists the ratio of users who can access this license against the total licenses. For example, if 100 users have access, and there are a total of 50 licenses, the ratio is 1:2. |
