Paging through images in a large series can be useful for seeing each series image in turn. For example, if you have a screen format that displays 4 images in a series at once, with images 1 to 4 displayed, moving to the next page would display images 5 to 8.
To view images one page at a time
From the Image area context or top toolbar, click Advance by Image
or Advance
by Tab

if the button is not already set to Advance
by Page. 
Hover over the images and move the scroll wheel forward or backward.
or
Press Page Up or Page Down.
IMPAX scrolls to the next or previous page of images.
