Applying the Magnify Glass tool to an image

The Magnify Glass tool opens a separate window that magnifies the section of the image beneath it. The maximum magnification is 50 times the original size. You can move the window around to view various parts of an image in greater detail.

To apply the Magnify Glass tool to an image

  1. From the Image area top toolbar, Zoom button menu, select Magnify Glass. Magnify Glass

  2. Click the image to magnify.

    A separate window opens over the image, magnifying it. The magnification factor is displayed in the status bar.

  3. Apply the Magnify Glass tool:

    • To increase or decrease the magnification in the Magnify Glass window, use the mouse scroll wheel or press the Page Up or Page Down keys.

    • To magnify a different part of the image, drag the window to that region.

    • To resize the Magnify Glass window, drag the window frame in or out.

    • To change the brightness and contrast, click in the Magnify Glass window to activate the Window Level tool. Click in the window again to start the window level action, then again to set it.

  4. To close the Magnify Glass window, right-click in the window.

Tip

Tip:

A Magnify Glass applies to only one image. However, you can have two or more Magnify Glass windows open at once. Right-click in one to close it while leaving the others open.
