Troubleshooting: Configuration changes slow to take effect

Issue

After I make certain configuration changes, a noticeable delay occurs before the change takes effect.

Details

Some changes take effect only when the Application Server cache refreshes.

Solution

To have the change take effect immediately, reset the IIS on the Application Server.

CAUTION! Resetting the Application Server IIS can disrupt the work of Clients connected to the Application Server. Do this only when it is critical that a configuration change take place immediately.

To restart IIS on the Application Server

1. On the Application Server, open Control Panel.

2. Select Administrative Tools > Services.

3. Stop the World Wide Web Publishing Service.

4. Stop the IIS Admin Service.

5. Start the IIS Admin Service.

6. Start the World Wide Web Publishing Service.
