Troubleshooting: Logging in gives application cannot continue message

Issue

When I log into the Client, I receive the following error message:

A problem occurred and the application cannot continue. The application may have encountered an unrecoverable error, there may be a problem contacting the Application Server, or your network connection may be down. If you try logging in again and it fails, please contact your system administrator.

Details

Generally, when you receive this error message, it means that the Application Server is unavailable or is incorrectly defined for the Client.

It could also signal that a network error has occurred.

Solution

If you receive this error, try the following to fix the problem:

  1. Try to log in again. If the error occurred due to a network problem, it may have corrected itself.

  2. Check your network cable attachment. When the cable is loose, this error can appear.

  3. Contact your PACS Administrator so that he or she can change the Application Server that the Client points to or correct the problem with the current Application Server.
