Emergency study workflow: 2. Acquisition

The acquisition phase begins when the patient arrives at the modality for the study and ends when the study is sent to the PACS.

5. The patient arrives at the modality

When the patient arrives at the modality for his study, the technologist requests a worklist that contains the patient information and the details of the study to be performed. The study may even be marked as a STAT study and appear automatically at the top of the technologist's worklist. The STAT study moves all other scheduled studies back.

6. The technologist performs the CT head scan

The technologist takes the CT head scan.

7. The technologist does a quality check

The technologist performs a quality check on the images.

8. The images are sent to the PACS

The technologist completes the study and the images are forwarded to the PACS.
