Troubleshooting: Cannot burn CD/DVD

Issue

When burning a CD/DVD locally, after selecting the prepared burn job and clicking Burn, the following error message is displayed:

Could Not Burn Disc.

Details

This message is displayed when an unhandled error is encountered. One reason for this message is that the Image Mastering API (IMAPI) has been upgraded to version 2.0 to support DVD burning. The IMAPI 2.0 functionality must be supported on the IMPAX Client workstation.

This message can also be displayed if the user is not part of the Administrators group. Your system administrator can adjust specific device-related permissions (such as CD/DVD burning) for other groups. For further details, refer to the "Providing User Permissions for Media Burning Devices" article on the Microsoft forums (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb540662(v=VS.85).aspx).

Other reasons may have caused this message to display.

Solution

Solution #1: Support IMAPI 2.0 functionality
