IIS logging is enabled by default, and the default path for the log files is on the C:\ drive. Over time, the drive becomes full, which creates a serious downtime risk on the server. If you prefer not to disable IIS logging, you can prevent this situation by saving the log files in a different location.
To change the location of the IIS log files on a Windows 2003 Application Server
Right-click My Computer and select Manage.
In the Computer Management window, navigate to Services and Applications > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager > Web Sites > Default Web Site.
Right-click Default Web Site and select Properties.
In the Default Web Site Properties dialog, in the Enable logging section, click Properties.
In the Log file directory field, type the directory for the log files.
Specify a directory path, on a drive other than C:, with significant free space.
Click OK.
Log files are now saved in the new location.
