IMPAX provides functionality so you can transmit from legacy non-DICOM 3.0 imaging modalities to the Network Gateway. To do this, connect the imaging modality to a properly configured Agfa MG3000. The MG3000 sends APIP format to the Network Gateway, which converts APIP to DICOM.
![]() | Note: APIP translation is the process that converts Agfa PACS Interface Protocol to DICOM 3.0 format that is stored on IMPAX. |
The Network Gateway runs two applications that provide connectivity to the MG3000 and similar secondary capture devices.
Prerequisites for non-DICOM 3.0 modalities
The connection between the MG3000 and IMPAX must be made by Service with the following prerequisites:
Add proper entries in the IMPAX /etc/hosts file on the Network Gateway.
Configure the MG3000.
Point the MG3000 to a specific Network Gateway.
Assign proper name to each acquisition channel (ROOM_1, ROOM_2, and so on).
If no RIS interface to IMPAX exists, configure OCR rules.
OCR is required for capturing the demographic information by reading it directly from the demographic data on the image.
If a RIS connection exists, bypass the OCR program and store the RIS demographics directly to IMPAX.
Make entries for each of the MG3000 acquiring modalities (ROOM_1, ROOM_2, and so on) in the Source Manager.
The MG3000 itself is transparent and is not an entry in the Source Manager.
