Scaling breast images to fit the viewport

The Image Scale to Fit tool scales images so that the breast fills the available viewport space. When applied, all images are displayed as large as possible, without cutting off any anatomical content. Images are not only scaled but they are also panned out and registered so that the chest walls are fully visible, regardless of laterality or patient orientation.

When scaling images to fit the viewport, note the following:

CAUTION!

CAUTION!

Do not use the Image Scale to Fit wizard to automatically apply the scaling when viewing breast images. You must first view the images unscaled to recognize if any portion of the images is not in view due to overscaling when the Image Scale to Fit tool is applied . Overscaling can occur due to poor exposure and insufficient image contrast. Additionally, situations where prior images are the same size as current studies but where the prior study physical breast size is significantly larger than those in the current study can cause it to overscale.

To scale breast images to fit the viewport

  1. From the Image area top toolbar, click Image Scale to Fit Scale image to fit viewport.

Breast images are scaled to fit the viewport and remain scaled when navigating through images.

  2. To restore images to their original size, click Image Scale to Fit Scale image to fit viewport so the button is unselected.

The button is greyed out and the images are no longer scaled to fit the viewport.

Note:

Note:

Image Scale to Fit may not have a noticeable effect when applied to 2x2 Comparative Review Mode views. Other views, like the 1x2 Comparative Review Mode views exhibit a more noticeable change due to the aspect ratio of the image areas.
