Troubleshooting: Highlighted items in a combo box are not displayed on my diagnostic monitor

Issue

On my diagnostic monitor, highlighted items in a combo box are not displayed.

Details

This issue only affects diagnostic monitors running Windows Vista as the operating system.

Solution

The Windows Vista color schemes Windows Aero and Windows Vista Basic are high-depth color palettes and can affect how the Selected Items Windows GUI item is displayed on diagnostic monitors.

To ensure highlighted items in a combo box are displayed

1. Change the color scheme to another color scheme such as Windows standard.

2. On the Advanced Appearance dialog, change the Selected Items option foreground and background colors to provide better contrast on diagnostic monitors.
