Determining how patient age is calculated

If the patient age at the time of acquisition is not provided by the modality and the study is in the local cache (regardless of where it was acquired), IMPAX calculates the patient age and stores it in the patient_age field of the dosr_study table. The following determines how the patient age is calculated in relation to the HIS-verification status of the study:

HIS-verification statusPatient age calculation

HIS-verification was successful.

IMPAX calculates a value based on birth date and study date. If the calculated value is invalid, IMPAX uses the DICOM tag age regardless of what it is.

Values in the study are synchronized with values listed in the RIS.

An attempt to HIS-verify the study against the RIS was made but failed.

or

No attempt to HIS-verify the study was made (system was not configured to verify based on source).

If the DICOM patient tag has a value, IMPAX uses it; otherwise, it calculates a value based on the birth date and study date.

Values are not synchronized with the RIS.
